Wharfedale Recorded Music Society

ABOUT US

Wharfedale Recorded Music—now in our 81st Season—is a small, informal and very friendly group of people who love to listen to good music, played on our very high quality equipment. Presentations cover a wide range of music, according to members’ own expertise and interests; very few of us are experts, and giving a presentation is not obligatory if you just prefer to enjoy listening. It’s amazing how much we learn from each other, and a delight to hear music that you might otherwise never have heard.

Our programme includes presentations from visiting speakers who are indeed experts in their own fields, and who always broaden our musical knowledge and understanding. Ilkley is a fantastic place for music, with its Concert Club in our beautiful Edwardian venue The Kings Hall, several excellent choirs, and three great local orchestras. Wharfedale Recorded Music Society is part of that continuing tradition, and we always extend a warm welcome to new members to share the best of music with us.

MEETINGS

We meet at St John’s Church, Bolling Road, Ben Rhydding, Ilkley, LS29 8PN.
We meet on most Wednesday evenings between October and May, at 7.45pm, though members tend to arrive from 7.30pm. It is a good idea to contact the Secretary to check meeting dates, because Ilkley also has a thriving and popular Concert Club which provides monthly live concerts on Wednesdays, and we do not meet on those dates.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

Membership is currently £37 for the season, and we offer Student membership for £5 for the season.
